The collaboration with Nuritas, already a partner of Faravelli Nutra Division, is now expanding into the cosmetics sector as well. Faravelli Cosmetic Division is bringing to Italy two solutions developed through Nuritas’ scientific and technological approach: PeptiProtect® and PeptiYouth™, patented nature-identical peptides designed to address two key needs in contemporary skincare: protection from damage associated with sun exposure and counteracting the signs of aging.
At the core of the development of Nuritas ingredients is the use of Artificial Intelligence to identify specific networks of bioactive peptides within natural sources, selecting them for their cosmetic potential.
PeptiProtect®: peptide for protection against damage associated with sun exposure
PeptiProtect® is a nature-identical peptide ingredient whose sequence was identified in freshwater algae. Its mechanism of action focuses on the PANX-1 channel, which is involved in the cellular response to UV-induced damage. UV exposure can in fact promote the extracellular release of ATP through these channels. Extracellular ATP acts as a danger signal, triggering a cascade of events that leads to an increase in intracellular calcium, the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and the release of pro-inflammatory mediators, including IL-6 and IL-1β, contributing to skin damage.
PeptiProtect® acts by blocking PANX-1-mediated ATP release, thereby helping to protect the skin from damage associated with sun exposure. The clinical studies reported by Nuritas highlight benefits in the reduction of the visibility of wrinkles and dark spots and in the improvement of skin hydration.
The ingredient is supported by in vitro and in vivo evidence and by a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study. The registered INCI is s-Haematococcus Lacustris Oligopeptide-1.
PeptiYouth™: peptide supporting skin architecture
PeptiYouth™ originates from specific peptides identified in pea proteins through Nuritas’ AI platform, with the aim of supporting skin architecture by acting on its structural components.
Clinical studies highlight an improvement in wrinkle depth, including deep wrinkles, and in skin smoothness. The documentation also reports evidence related to elastin synthesis and collagen density.
A particularly interesting aspect from a formulation perspective is the possibility of using PeptiYouth™ either alone or in synergy with established anti-aging actives such as retinol and vitamin C. The ex vivo studies reported by Nuritas show an enhancement of the effect of these ingredients on various markers of skin architecture.
The ingredient is supported by in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo evidence and by two double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical studies. The registered INCI is s-Pea Oligopeptide-1 SP.
