The new generation of hair care silicones
Tweet
Sugar modified silicones is the cutting-edge technology for hair care products, a peculiar combination of polar and non-polar character in one molecule with improved performance.
The flexible silicone backbone grants smoothness and softness; the amino group improves the affinity to the hair surface thanks to the cationic character; the “sugar” part makes the molecule more polar and reduces the built-up effect, while improving shine and color refreshing of the hair.
Sugar modified dimethicones are crosslinking by physical hydrogen bonding to a high molecular weight silicone polymer. Physical hydrogen bonding’s big advantage is reversibility. This means less build-up effect in comparison to classic amino or high molecular weight silicones.
Thanks to the interaction between negative charge and positive charge of amino group there is good covering of the whole hair surface.
BeauSil AMO 902 (INCI: Glucoamidopropyl aminopropyl dimethicone) and BeaSil AMO 918 (Glucoamido aminopropyl dimethicone) by CHT/BEZEMA Group are cutting-edge ingredients for the formulation of hair conditioners, shampoos, hair tonics, hair serums. They promote excellent silky shine/gloss, smooth and soft hair feeling, reduction of combe force (wet and dry), heat protection, less build up, improved moisturizing.
Sugar modified silicones demonstrate that sometimes even a small, innovative and functional component can yield a unique market success.
