Collagen plays a fundamental role in maintaining skin structure, but preserving its functionality does not only mean promoting its synthesis. The organization of the extracellular matrix and the processes that can compromise its integrity and quality, such as degradation and glycation, also represent important aspects in cosmetic research.
With “TRIPLOBIOME WAVE”, “SURFIN’ THE COLLAGEN” continues, the campaign developed by Faravelli Cosmetic Division in collaboration with Provital, which in this second chapter explores the potential of biotechnology applied to collagen.
At the heart of this wave is Triplobiome™ Technology, the innovative biotechnological platform from Provital that harnesses the natural symbiosis between plants and endophytic microorganisms, present within plant tissues, to develop cosmetic ingredients through sustainable and traceable processes.
Through two active ingredients obtained thanks to this technology, Shiloxome™ and Pureblome™, we will discover different strategies to act on the collagen network**: support the organization of the extracellular matrix and the levels of structural proteins** and help preserve their quality.
SHILOXOME™ | PROTECT & REMODEL IT
The first ingredient developed through Triplobiome™ Technology, Shiloxome™ originates from the isolation of the endophytic yeast Kwoniella mangroviensis, found in the bark of the cork oak (Quercus suber).
A multifunctional ingredient that strengthens the skin barrier, protects the skin from oxidative damage associated with pollution and counteracts the visible signs of aging, also addressing the needs of mature skin.
This biotechnological active ingredient stands out for its action on the processes involved in the organization and remodeling of the extracellular matrix.
A transcriptomic analysis conducted on aged human dermal fibroblasts highlighted a significant modulation of cellular processes associated with the structure and organization of the extracellular matrix.
Subsequent in vitro tests highlighted an increase in the levels of structural proteins: Shiloxome™ at 0.373% resulted in a 23% increase in collagen levels and a 14% increase in elastin compared to the control.
Metabolomic analysis also identified bioactive compounds in the ferment to which the literature attributes, among various biological activities, a potential inhibitory effect on collagen degradation.
An approach that combines support for dermal structure with the protective potential of biotechnologically derived metabolites.
PUREBLOME™ | BUILD & PRESERVE IT
Pureblome™ is a postbiotic active ingredient developed through Triplobiome™ Technology from Bacillus velezensis, an endophytic bacterium isolated from hyssop leaves.
Pureblome™ also stands out for a multifunctional approach, combining well-aging, rebalancing and regenerating properties, helping to counteract excess sebum, adult acne imperfections and inflammatory processes, as well as the visible signs of aging.
It acts on two fundamental aspects for maintaining dermal structure: in in vitro tests, it demonstrated an ability to increase collagen and elastin levels and to counteract glycation processes.
In in vitro tests conducted on human dermal fibroblasts, Pureblome™ demonstrated an ability to promote a 14% increase in type I collagen levels and a 25% increase in elastin, contributing to the support of dermal structure.
A second particularly interesting aspect concerns its anti-glycation activity. The formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) can in fact compromise the properties of collagen, making it more rigid and reducing its elasticity and resistance.
Pureblome™ demonstrated an ability to reduce AGE formation in a dose-dependent manner in an in vitro experimental model, suggesting a complementary strategy to help preserve the quality of the skin’s structural proteins.
With “TRIPLOBIOME WAVE”, “SURFIN’ THE COLLAGEN” continues its journey to discover the different mechanisms that regulate collagen, exploring how biotechnology can offer new opportunities for the development of cosmetic formulations.
